This is the Statt Mann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

Here at the beginning of the motorsports season we can look with anticipation at several stories that will unfold in 2007. Like:

Will James Stewart work hard enough to climb to the top step of Supercross?  And will he be strong enough to carry the sport once he’s there?

Is Travis Pastrana strong enough to carry the American spotlight onto the World Rally stage and not wilt under its scrutiny and competition?

Is Champ Car really back or is Paul Stoddart’s entree into the sport just a way of off-loading some of the costs involved in keeping the series alive?

Can Champ Car chief underwriter Kevin Kalkhoven survive the lawsuit he faces from the residue of his involvement with JDS Uniphase?

Will drifting’s excitement go up in a wall of tire smoke as greedy promoters force the sport and its fans to endure an alphabet war of new series and splintered interests?

There are many more stories obviously, but all of these great ones give us a choice of the human drama of athletic competition or another year of the blinding glare of someone’s Southern pocketbook.

Peace.
