This is the Stattmann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

The frustration of qualifying in the NHRA Pro Stock category must be overwhelming.

Consider Shaun Carlson, the newcomer in Don Schumacher Racing’s Mopar Camp.

He failed to get it done at the season opener in Pomona and, again, at the second event in Phoenix.

This weekend the field is in Gainesville for the Gatornationals.

Friday night, Shaun was in 24th, fifty-one thousandths of a second out of 16th, the final qualifying spot for eliminations on Sunday.

Fifty-One thousandths!  And seven cars are all within that split second.

Even more frustration is this:  Shaun is just a blink slower than pole sitter Greg Anderson.  There are 23 cars between him and the front of the field and they’re all splitting 116-thousandths of a second.

Competition that close could make anyone look unqualified.

Peace…
