This is the Stattmann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

I’m smiling at what’s happening to my friends racing sport compact cars.

This weekend NHRA Sport Compact champion Matt Scranton was running in the Toyota Celebrity Race in Long Beach.  That’s a drag racer invited by Toyota to turn left and right and he did it well, qualifying third overall.

Then rally and drift king Rhys Millen was at Long Beach considering an SCCA World Challenge invitation from Pontiac to drive another version of the GTO he developed for drifting.

And Formula Drift champion Sam Hubinette about to run some World Challenge stuff himself later in the year.

And Sport Compact drag racing pioneer Lisa Kubo, on the sidelines while a ride is readied, doing some TV at the NHRA’s first event last weekend in Florida.

People try to dismiss the so-called import stuff, but the suits know sport compacts attract the buying public’s attention.

After all, sport compacts are nothing more than compact sports cars that are  closer to stock than anything else out there turning left or right.

Peace.
