This is the Stattmann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

We remember the passing of The Pope this week.  He was a brilliant man from Poland who touched lives, cultures, age groups and ethnic groups around the world, Catholic or not.

I remember him drinking in the cheers of young Americans at a massive Denver Mass in 1993.

He invited terrorists, freedom fighters and Communists to the Vatican, his home.

Last off season Pope John Paul II invited two of the world’s best racing drivers, Helio Castroneves and F1 king Michael Schumacher, to a Vatican audience.

The cynical might call those moments Photo Ops.  I’d rather believe a huge man of Peace who cared about people reached out to touch two more.

Who knows, a man of his passions might have been a racing fan or driver if he’d taken other less traveled roads back home in Krakow.

Pope John Paul II was an example on so many levels.  In addition to his commitment to holiness, we could benefit from his commitment to human differences.  He gave more than lip service to Family Values.

He valued the Family of Man.  Do you?

Peace.
