This is the Statt Mann BAby. It's time to Scatt a little bit.

It’s been a fascinating year in motorsports. We’ve seen the best and the worst the sport has to offer.

We saw a string of seven straight championships continue to eight. We saw a string of five straight championships halted.

We saw boorish behavior all but ignored. And there’s some thinking that it might be rewarded with another job somewhere else.

We saw death in staggering violence. Sadly, the things that caused that death might also be ignored. We have some wrong headed thinking in the board rooms of American racing.

We saw an American wave the Stars & Stripes on the Fourth of July after a win in Sweden. And we saw drivers hang on far beyond their skills. We have some wrong headed thinking on American race tracks too.

Looking at 2012 we can only hope the wrong heads disappear from the future of motor racing. Personally I’d like to see the sport survive the people who currently hold it in their hands.

Be safe this Holiday Season. I'd love to see you here next year.

Peace.
