This is the Statt Mann Baby!! Time to Scatt a little bit.

If Jeff Gordon goes on to win the Nextel Cup Chase for the championship he can look back at today’s final lap at Talladega as the lap that catapulted him to the title.

After 187 ½ laps, Gordon was soldering on behind his teammate Jimmie Johnson who was driving the car that Gordon partially owns.

But then, “when they got three wide I said this is my opportunity,” Gordon said in Victory Lane. “Luckily when I got high and Jimmie tried to block me, the 20 (Tony Stewart) was there and had no where to go and he drilled me and he’s the one who pushed me to the front.

“Amazing day, man!”

You can’t win four championships as Gordon has without knowing when it’s Winnin’ Time.

Johnson knew. He tried to block Gordon but couldn’t.

Stewart knew. He tried several times to get the kind of help he gave Gordon but no one stepped up.

After three or four hours of racing it all came down to one moment.
That’s the definition of Winnin’ Time.

Peace.
