This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit.

Young people punch at the glass ceiling all over the sports world.

In motor sports champions fight to stay on top in Formula One, NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA. Even in the exhibition SRX series, the veterans must defend against regional and young drivers who want the spotlight for themselves.

In tennis this morning Italian newcomer Matteo Berrettini gave Novak Djokovic a tough fight before Novak went on to win Wimbledon and his record tying 20th Grand Slam victory.

It’s so hard to win. Ask Chris Paul, the Phoenix guard who’s fighting for his first NBA championship as he nears the end of his exceptional Hall of Fame career.

So many young people hammering at the ceiling won’t break through. They just don’t know what kind of hammer to grab nor how hard to swing it.

Veterans like to win too much to help. And the youngsters don’t always listen when the veterans tell them to walk down the hill to get it all.

All of that is the beauty of sports, isn’t it?

Peace.
