Hey SpeedFreaks,

I just finished reading an article talking about the New NASCAR Hall of Fame that several cities are fighting for.  And today's discussion was that a study showed the Hall of Fame would not raise revenue that much in Charlotte. I say so what! I totally agree with Charlotte, N.C.'s Mayor Pat McCrory. It's not about the Benjamin's here, it's once again about being prideful about this sport.

Now I will admit that other cities could have a shot if it's just about the money. But when you think NASCAR, you think Charlotte, North Carolina.  Most of the team shops are there and it is called Race City, USA I did some research into NASCAR's past again, and found that in 1947 there were tracks all along the eastern part of the U.S., some horse tracks were ran – horse racing in a new form.  I wonder what the horses thought when the stock cars took over their tracks, lol!!

Now if you look at history Daytona beach should win.  The first race ran at Ormond Beach in 1903 and was won by Alexander Winton, whose top speed was 68.19 mph.  Atlanta's Lakeside fairgrounds staged a National Stock car challenge in 1938, A one mile dirt track race won by Lloyd Seay at the ripe ol' age of 19!  And in 1939, A moonshine runner named Roy Hall, won a race on a little dirt track in Salisbury, NC interesting also is that Bill France Sr., finished in second in that race.

So historically, the above mentioned cities could win, the rest in my opinion are not even worth mentioning.  So as the person responsible for making the final decision of just where the Hall of Fame lands, I hope they look at just more then the money. I hope they look at the History of the sport, and decide on a place that deserves it.  I have given the stats on some history of the sport.  So what do you think?

Thanks again for all the support and remember: Pull those belts tight, The green's gonna fly. And this ain't no ordinary ride!
