This is the Statt Mann Baby. It's time to Scatt a little bit.

Someone at NASCAR is coming to their senses. This week we saw examples of the Sprint Cup cars that will be introduced in 2013.

And, lo and behold, the stock cars will look like stock cars, the ones you can see in the showrooms. Everyone knows they aren’t but seeing cars that have the look of what a customer can buy is a GIANT step in the right direction.

There was a time when the cars looked like they rolled off the showroom floor. The winged cars from Dodge and Plymouth in the late 1960s were so dynamic, people actually went to the showrooms to see them. Some even purchased them or something else like them while they were there.

But they went to the showrooms. What a novel concept, huh?! It’s were the race on Sunday, sell on Monday theme came from.

Maybe it’ll come back. It needs to. Domestic manufacturers poured a billion dollars into Cup Racing over a ten year period and wound up in front of Congress begging for relief from bankruptcy.

Maybe they learned something. It’s about selling your own products not the NASCAR, sponsor or driver brands.

You’d think that would be obvious.

Peace.
