This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit.

Watching Cadillac win the IMSA GTP Championship Saturday night took me back to earlier days when Cadillac was winning in World Challenge.

2023 Cadillac Petit

More important, why participation fits corporate goals like selling cars to you and me. Cadillac didn’t win at Petit. That went to Meyer Shank’s Acura. Cadillac was sixth but they’ll be able to pound the championship drum for weeks, especially in their showrooms.

It’s been said over and over again that this Cadillac isn’t your Granddad’s Cadillac. This Cadillac wants Millennials, people old enough to afford the price tag and young enough to appreciate the performance and style.

I was told years ago that every time Cadillac showed up at a World Challenge race it got more leads to sell cars in the showroom. And that was especially true at Long Beach.

So, if you wonder why Cadillac stays in IMSA and Corvette is leaving? Chew on that last paragraph a bit. Cadillac triggers leads in a specific demo.

And that’s why automakers take green flags on the race track.
Peace.
