Okay SpeedFreaks, let’s talk about some more F1 drama! Turns out that nothing breeds contempt like domination.

When Ross Brawn took over Honda F1, it was assumed, and approved by the other F1 teams, that he would receive the commercial revenue that was owed to Honda. However, once Jensen Button and Brawn started DOMINATING the series, winning 7 of the first 8 races, the FIA backpedaled and declared Brawn GP a new team, therefore not eligible to receive the nearly 20 million pounds in commercial revenue.

So what is Ross to do? Start selling stuff!! Brawn plans to sell off Honda chassis’ and cars driven by Villenuve, Button and Barichello from 2001-2006. However, the chassis from this era will only fetch about 7 thousand pounds each so it’s not going to add up to much.

Interesting follow-up note here. Brawn is primarily sponsored by Virgin, and Ross told Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin, that he would not need a huge chunk of change from him because he was counting on that previously promised commercial revenue. Ooops.
