This is the Statt Mann Baby!! Time to Scatt a little bit.

Once again the National Hot Rod Association has proved its commitment to truth, justice and the American way.

On Saturday, Matco Tools and David Powers Motorsports named Pro Stock Motorcycle star Antron Brown to drive it’s Top Fuel dragster next season.

Top Fuel is the top of the food chain in drag racing. It’s the fastest class and the one with the longest trail of history to drag racing’s roots.

And, now, the class will have two African Americans with the resources and ability to win in the sport’s premier class. There’s Antron with David Powers and race winner JR Todd who will move from an independent team this year to a larger team with more resources next season.

What’s the significance?

The NHRA is finding African Americans and Latinos all over the place with the skillset to represent sponsors and win races and fans.

NASCAR has spent millions of dollars, years of time and buckets full of emotion only to run its premier class with no Black drivers and only one Latino. Shameful.

I continue to find it hard to believe that out of six billion people in the world, 300 million in the U.S. and a professed 75 million NASCAR fans, that no African Americans and only one Latino is capable of driving a car around in left-leaning circles.

Shameful indeed.
