So after reading all over the internet this week about NASCAR driver Jamie McMurray and how he most likely will lose his ride in the #26 due to the Richard Petty Motorsports – Robert Yates Racing merge, I thought I would do some additional investigating.

And you will NOT believe what I found… thanks to Twitter!

Seriously guys… rumors have posted that McMurray is likely out of a ride, to be replaced by, well, possibly no one if the team is just plain dissolved.  But Geoff Smith of Roush Fenway is working hard to figure out a way to keep the team alive, so as to not unemploy anyone.  Then reports surfaced that McMan may end up in the #1 at Earnhardt Ganassi, though Erik Darnell is also a likely candidate for that spot.  McDriver could also end up in Sadler's #19 seat if some of the crew members get their way… so there is a chance that a few hot names could be available for the #26 if the chips fall right (or wrong).

Bobby Labonte became a popular name in discussions this weekend, as well, as folks thought he could bring money to the needy #26… but could also bring more visibility to the #07, which Jack Daniels may like. If that happens, then Casey Mears is bumped.

Travis Kvapil, with ties to Yates still, even entered his name into the equation of musical chairs on Friday when he said he had been in serious discussions with several respectable teams. Then he added, “There's a handful of guys that don't deserve to have rides if I don't have one – I know I can outrun them…”

Um, was Travis talking about McStandout?

Anyway, back to the real reason of this article… who in the world will drive the #26 next year in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series if the team does exist? After careful research, I found a hidden photo that just may prove the answer. Maybe this will help kick off silly season and begin to help us place drivers in their 2010 outfits… or maybe not.  He is an IndyCar guy after all…

Ouch, IndyCar… not again!!!??!!
