This is the Statt Mann Baby. It's time to Scatt a little bit.

I’ve got to process this a bit. But the Oregon Trail Rally results this weekend wound up being a showcase for foreign drivers visiting the American rally championship.

The winner was from Wales. Second place went to a Russian living in Toronto. Third on the podium was an American who lives in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Curiously that’s north of many Canadians in Toronto and Montreal.

The 2WD winner was from Australia. The Super Production winner was from Belgium but, at least, he now lives in Pasadena, CA.

You have to wonder what’s happened to the American championship and the drivers who used to compete there. The best are now committed to rallycross.

But there are other things that would indicate the young drivers coming through the pipeline look at the sport of stage rallying for its thrills and not for the sustainability of a career, profession or business.

We should all be apologizing to 11-time American champion John Buffum who set the standard and it appears few are willing to follow him up the hill.

Peace.
