This is the Stattmann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

We’ve all seen Carl Edwards signature back flip after a race win.

And inevitably when Carl does that back flip you’ll hear someone with all the wisdom in the world say something like: “There he goes again, head over heels.”

Head over heels?  Ever think about that?  Head over heels is the normal way of looking at things.  Our heads are normally over our heels.  That’s how we’re built!

GUYS!! When Carl does his back flip he’s heels over head!!  Get it right.

Where do these bits of insanity get started?

I guess it’s like saying race car drivers aren’t athletes.

Going back to Carl Edwards, if you saw him RIPPED – abs and all – on the cover of ESPN the Magazine recently you see how much of an athlete he really is.

I’d compare him to any stick and ball guy out there.

Further, I’d like to see a stick and ball athlete go through a four hour contest then stop, full of emotion and energy and fatigue, and do a back flip.

Usually after a game, I see a stick and ball athlete head over heels as they drag themselves to the locker room where it’s all they can do to sit down and groan.

Peace…
