This is the Statt Mann Baby!! Time to Scatt a little bit.

You gotta love real sports competition.

On paper, Detroit was supposed to steamroll Philadelphia in the NBA Playoffs. Go figure! Instead, Philadelphia was up 2-1 going to game four.

Same in the Boston-Atlanta Series. Atlanta muscled up Saturday night and beat Boston on the way to the Boston sweep.

In NHRA drag racing, the Funny Car qualifying at Atlanta had Tim Wilkerson, Cruz Pedregon, Tony Bartone and Gary Densham in the top four slots at one point this weekend.

Where were guys like Defending Champion Tony Pedregon, or former champion Gary Scelzi and 14-time king John Force? Scrambling, that’s where.

In NASCAR, they’d be guaranteed a spot in the Sunday Finals with faster cars possibly somewhere behind them or going home. It’s happened.

That’s just tough for me to understand in a competitive world.

And the argument that the fans want to see their favorites? I don’t think drag racing or the NBA fans are too worried as long as the competition is fair.

Wouldn’t you agree?

Peace.
