This is the Statt Mann, Baby. It’s time to Scatt a Little Bit…

The Freaks are in our 14th year with this craziness. And it’s been a truly crazy fourteen years on so many levels. But one thing may not be in our best interests.

There was a time when there was an off-season. Most if not all racing stopped right before Thanksgiving and started up again at the end of January with the 24 Hours of Daytona.

Now, however, there’s the 25 Hours of Thunderhill, the Dakar Rally, the 24 Hours of Dubai and the Monte Carlo Rally sandwiched between the end of the NASCAR season and the start of the sports car season here in the U.S.

And we haven’t even talked about the Supercross season that starts the first weekend in January and continues until early May.

It’s easy to say this is a good thing. But when seasons get too long fans get too bored and can’t keep track of all that faces them or their wallets.

Couple all that with incessant social media and racing can become so much white noise. Who loses if we have to pick and choose because of limited funds to feed our habits?

Truly, too much of a good thing is just that; too much of a good thing.

Peace.
