This is the Stattmann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

What a great weekend of racing.

That Grand Am Rolex finish in the rain at Watkins Glen was a sight to behold.  The last lap in a blinding rain storm and there was still a disagreement over third place.

The winner in the GT division wasn’t assured until the car emerged from the wall of rain at the finish.

Then the NHRA event at Chicagoland was filled with upsets.  Dale Creasey beat defending champion John Force in the first round of Funny Car eliminations.  Hot Rod Fuller beat defending champion Tony Schumacher in Top Fuel.  And Steve Johnson beat defending champion Andrew Hines in Pro Stock Motorcycle.

I was cheering for George Bryce and Chip Ellis.  That team is suffering with close friend Ken Johnson in the hospital after a freak accident ripped his knee apart and threatened his life.  And Ellis beat Geno Scali in the final.

But my Home Boy Jeg Coughlin lost in the Pro Stock final to Jason Line by fifteen-ten thousandths of a second.  Jeggie wanted to win one for his Grand Mother who died this weekend.

At Pocono, Carl Edwards won his second Cup race and thanked a video game for getting him ready for a track he’d never seen before.

Upsets.  Drama.  Emotion.

And you just heard a minute on racing without the D-word!

Peace.
