This is the Stattmann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

Since New Year’s Eve, the Freaks have danced with World Rally Champions in Barcelona, no less.

We’ve slogged through mud near Disneyland to see the start of an incredible Supercross season.

And we’ve partied with a record sixty thousand of our closest friends in the historic Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan.

And the common demoninator?  The fans and the people under the helmets.  They’re so much alike it’s staggering.  The things that separate us in motorsports are so superficial and so artificial they’re hard to take seriously.

I overhead a little boy with his Dad yesterday in the Silverdome.  We were several hours until the start of a Monster Truck Jam when the boy turned to his Dad and offered, spontaneously: “I’m having so much fun, Dad!”  And the look on Dad’s face echoed the same.

There was a similar look in the face of a little girl and her brother after The Freaks gave them a couple flags last night.  It's a miracle if their Mom and Dad have the flags out of their hands even NOW!

We can’t lose sight of the fact that racing’s fun.  When it stops being fun we diminish the sport and ourselves.  And that applies if we’re talking Cups, CARTS or 'Crosses.

Peace.
