This is the Statt Mann Baby.  It's time to Scatt a little bit.

This is something I heard from a friend's trend site and it has a ring of truth for me.

I'm told Mercedes is using Michael Schumacher on its Formula 1 team to attract younger drivers into Mercedes showrooms.

The report says Mercedes is facing a slide in sales because its customer base is a demonstration of Mercedes image that it's an old man's car.  As an example, in Germany, Mercedes' biggest market, 38 percent of it's customers are older than 60.

Overall, Mercedes sales in 2009 fell ten percent.

It's hoped that the presence of seven-time champion Michael Schumacher can help reverse this trend and bring younger drivers into Mercedes showrooms.  It's thought that people in their 30s grew up when Schumacher was unbeatable.

Some market research shows they idolized Schumacher and they might lead a new generation of buyers into a Mercedes store.

So we've wondered why Schumacher is kept around when he's not doing well. This might explain it. It'll be interesting to see if any of this works.

Peace.
