This is the Statt Mann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

I fully understand this is mid-summer, the Dog Days of August where it’s easy to be just overwhelmed with the heat and not the racing.

Dog Days were popularly believed to be an evil time. The ancient Romans put the Dog Days of August between July 24th and August 24th.  So, Happy dog Days.

It's when “the seas boiled, wine turned sour, and dogs grew mad.”  Without question, the dogs are growing mad these days.

Motor Racing has become Motor Marketing.  Selling something appears far more important than winning something.

It’s like in the movie industry where the headliner and ticket sales are more important than story line in the film.

So in racing, we find drivers who can’t win next to drivers who can’t find first place with a GPS.  Where’s the competition in that?

I was really affected last Sunday listening to Paul Tracy nearly beg for a ride in Indy Car while wall bangers are out there every weekend.  And nobody appears to care.

Mind you, there’s nothing wrong with that but don’t call what we have now Motor Racing when it’s Motor Marketing.

You wanted entertainment.  Now live with it.

Peace.
