This is the Statt Mann Baby. It’s time to Scatt a little bit.

The media always jumps to conclusions but it appears Volkswagen Motorsport’s year of rally testing – played out through You Tube – really paid off.

The VW Polo WRC team was first and fourth this weekend in Sweden.

Sebastien Ogier

Winner Sebastien Ogier of France withstood the pressure of nine-time World Rally Champon Sebastien Loeb – also of France – for two days to get the win.

Volkswagen got its first win in its WRC commitment in only its second event.

Admittedly the ice and snow of Sweden is a great equalizer on the roads. But in all the winter weather, Sweden is the second fastest rally of the 13 worldwide.

The studs in the tires give the teams breath taking grip on the roads. It’s a fascinating event and the VW win bodes well for a great season of competition between now and the fall when the season is over.

I don’t have an official horse in the race but I’d like to see Ogier’s VW teammate Jari-Matti Latvala who was fourth in Sweden win some events and challenge for the title this year.

I dare you to pay attention and not be a rally fan by the end of the season.

Peace.
