This is the Stattmann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

This isn’t meant to be a CART harangue.  CART doesn’t exist anymore and Champ Car is correcting some of its mistakes.

But being at Sebring this week I spoke to some of those mistakes:  graduates of the CART ladder system that weren't allowed to climb into CART.

Toyota Atlantic grads Ryan Dalziel, Alex Figgie and David Epringham were all entered in ONE GT1 Corvette this week.

In a Porsche was ex-Toyota Atlantic CHAMPION Jon Fogarty.

CART super-sub Memo Gidley was in a Ford Focus Touring Car owned and crewed by a former Pro Rally team.

And German driver Michael Krumm was once rejected as a CART backmarker.  All he did was go to Japan where he became a legendary champion in the JGTC.

All this and I haven’t even mentioned ex-CART regular Max Papis

Disappearing owners and drivers ended CART.  Let’s hope Champ Car doesn’t fall victim to the same glow-in-the-grass temptations of check book chasing and breeds – and keeps – some stars of its own.

QUICKLY!

Peace.
