SpeedFreaks hosted a special hour of programming last night on their radio show to celebrate the life of one of the original Freak Fans, motorsports journalist and legend, Shav Glick.

Shav passed peacefully on Saturday morning after suffering from melanoma.

"Shav was an amazing man and knowing him for even a few years at the end of his life was so very special to me," says the Freaks Statt Mann. "There was so much I would have paid to see from him. But watching Louis Hamilton this weekend in Brazil, I would have loved to have seen what he would have written about such a brilliant, young international star. We used the same words but he used them so much more gracefully than me. I have so much to learn. Such a special man…"

Those who came into the Freaks Pits to celebrate Shav Glick’s life was like a Who’s Who in the business. Motorpsorts legend Dan Gurney, NASCAR’s Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip, NHRA’s Kenny Bernstein, the Los Angeles Times’ Jim Peltz and SoCal public relations guru Doug Stokes.

The accolades and shared Shav stories that were told by these motorsports personalities can be heard by going to SpeedFreaks’ web site cover page and downloading the “Step Up To The Mic” audio, found at www.SpeedFreaks.tv

One of only two journalists to be elected to the Motorsports Hall of Fame, Shav excelled on the personal side of the story and always told his readers the meat of why certain things happened at the Indy 500 or who was behind the drama at the Daytona 500 or what really triggered the pile up at the Anaheim Supercross. All of the ‘names’ in the sport genuinely loved him, respected him and felt comfortable telling him the story.
