This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit.

To his fans like me, this seventh World Driver’s Championship for Lewis Hamilton seemed inevitable. Still, his career arc remains incredible. He says there’s more there.

Lewis Hamilton

Wins in Germany, Portugal and Italy set up Hamilton for a fourth straight in Turkey despite starting sixth and driving through rain on slick tires to finish first.

After Sunday’s win in Turkey he said he wanted to inspire young people. Hamilton’s career inspires me and I haven’t been young for a long time.

The seven world titles ties Lewis with the great Michael Schumacher. Few might remember, however, that Hamilton lost what could have been another championship in his rookie season in 2007. Kimi Raikkonen got that title by a single point after Hamilton made a rookie mistake entering the pits in China and scored nothing that day.

Seven titles in 14 seasons goes along with the record in total wins and pole positions. But despite all the success there are some former drivers who don’t count Lewis among the best ever.

Hopefully Mercedes will appreciate Hamilton’s success and give him the contract he deserves, maybe before the season is over.

Peace.
