This is the Stattmann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

Ford’s prolonged absence from the NHRA Pro Stock wars is troubling.

Currently, only Mopar is a break from GM’s Pro Stock Parade.

There was a time when neither Ford nor GM would allow the other to gain an advantage in any kind of motorsport especially the factory hot rods of Pro Stock.

Ford does have a presence in IHRA Pro Stock but that’s not a full scale factory effort and those cars are very different from their NHRA counterparts.

With this background it brought a smile this week to see that Jack Roush is returning to drag racing, the scene of his first motorsport triumphs.

In fact, Jack has told me more than once that his first love in racing might be drag racing.

As soon as this year he’ll start with five cars in the National Mustang Racing Association.  It’s a chance for Roush Industries to test product it’s developing for Ford Performance.

It’d be grand to see this effort expanded into a Ford return to NHRA Pro Stock.

Even better would be a rebirth of the full scale Ford-Chevy wars on America’s drag strips.

Peace…
