This is the Statt Mann, Baby. It’s time to Scatt a Little Bit…

This is a premature conversation but I’m asking the question anyway.

You think the World Rally Championship will be hindered in any way with Volkswagen dominating the way it has this year?

I read this weekend that the Volkswagen Polos have won 75 percent of the stages competed in 2014.

And at Rally Mexico this weekend team leader Sebastian Ogier won by more than a one minute gap over teammate Jari-Matti Latvala.

It appears Volkswagen is committed to the series as a corporate effort the way Citroen was committed to the WRC when Sebastien Loeb won his nine consecutive championships.

The WRC is expensive and it requires containers of money to travel the world and compete for wins and titles.

But the sport grew under the Loeb domination. If Volkswagen and Ogier continue to be bad to the bone in the WRC will fans keep coming to bask in their glow?

I certainly hope they will. There’s little better than a factory rally program and a driver skilled enough to make that program sing.

Peace.
