Aah, Homecoming season! I know some of the high schools in Indy, Dallas and the Northeast… oh, and even colleges throughout the Midwest have been celebrating that oh so fun Homecoming Spirit… hey, trust me, I remember those tailgates (sort of) and were they ever fun! Even the ones I don’t remember HAD to be fun, too! Homecoming celebrations are generally a blast, and several racers felt that same Mojo this weekend as well.

Let’s just say the ‘N’ Sprint Cup and Busch boys were racing at home this weekend (remember, I’m boycotting the N word… the full N*$c@* word… until this open wheel defection can stop!). Anyway, the N boys were at home (sort of) in Charlotte – a Homecoming for MOST of the drivers. And at this home return, it was crash or twelve that propelled Jeff Burton to the Busch win. The first of which, occurred around lap 20 by Marcos Ambrose… he visited the Freak Nation on Sunday night and no, we didn’t really talk about that crash much… check out his audio here.

On to the Sprint Cup, how about that soon to be defecto teammate, Kyle Busch, helping one Mr. Jeff Gordon to the win, and most likely the championship! Damn, Kyle… now the other media think you have matured so much. Did they ever REALLY know you before… this maturity talk is such drivel. Folks, Kyle has been fine from the beginning. The only issue is the ‘older’ N media being insecurely phased by the ‘young gun’ driver infiltration for the past several years. Get over it, folks… including you, retiree Dale Jarrett.

The MotoGP studs raced in Oz this weekend, and speaking of homecomings, it was a good one for the newly crowned ’07 champ Casey Stoner. Casey took the win on home soil and helped to make it a one-two for Ducati to allow them a clinch in the manufacturers championship as well.

How about another win on the home turf… let’s talk Tour de Course… World Rally Corsica, the French island, where the French man Sebastien Loeb beat Marcos Gronholm! And with that win, the points championship becomes a matter of just 4 points with 3 events to go… NICE!

On to drifting, Tanner Foust won the event and clinched the Formula Drift Championship at Irwindale in Southern Cali… hey, he lives in SoCal, so that’s just another notch in the hometown win books.

One homecoming that so far hasn’t and now won’t happen… Aussie billionaire running the Champ Car series, Kevin Kalkhoven will sadly not be present at the event he has declared the series' marquee event – that being Surfer’s Paradise, Australia, this coming weekend. Why? Well, he has a massive lawsuit to settle with the JDS Uniphase class action group (just $20 BILLION worth), and also has many a business deals to finalize with groups in Europe, as the series is making the move to target the European audiences more prominently in future years. Some speculate that this will lead to a change in the face of open wheel… come on now, is THIS what we need to ‘get back to normal’? Again, I will refer to my open wheel bitch session last week (Click Here to listen and read it)… and cry for your help yet again!!!!!

Back to Homecomings, don’t forget to vote for my home boy IndyCar man Helio Castroneves this week on Dancing with the Stars… 1-800-VOTE-409

Finally, other race winners on the weekend:

* New Zealand in the A1GP (both the sprint race and the feature race… good on ya, Kiwis!)

* Grant Langston won the big payday at the Supercross US Open in Vegas with a 2-5 finish – Chad Reed won the main on Friday and Jake Weimer took the main on Saturday… what a CRAZY Saturday race it was, too!

* Donny Schatz won the Inaugural Dave Helm World of Outlaws Memorial in Tulare, CA and is closer to shutting up the nay-sayers en route to his 2nd championship title (some have an asterisk next to his title win last year as the series was split, but this year he’s doing it again, with all the players back together)

* Open Wheeler turned Stock Car boy Michael McDowell took the ARCA win in Toledo, but Frank Kimmel, with his 5th place finish, was able to clinch the championship over McDowell… his 9th championship in the series (8th consecutive)

Oh, and finally, finally… did you get your N shot (N*$c@* shot) According to the House Committee at Homeland Security, you should (especially if you were at the Charlotte race this weekend)… we discussed it on our Sunday night show, and here’s a fun article that explains it, too: Close Finishes

Yep, there it is… Happy Homecoming Week, race fans! Go Hoosiers!!
