This is the Statt Mann  Baby.  Time to Scatt a little bit.

A record number of upsets in the NCAA  Men’s basketball tournament sent millions of fan brackets into the trash can this weekend.  But March Madness upsets weren’t restricted to American college basketball.

The Haas F1 team, the first American team in F1 since 1986, finished sixth in Melbourne Sunday earning eight points in its debut season and race.  That’s a first since 2002 when Toyota debuted with a sixth in Australia.

The Haas team had some great pre-season test sessions in Barcelona last month.  But Sunday’s result was more than even the biggest fans could have hoped for.

Now cynics have already tried to throw water on the effort.  The American team with a European base in the UK uses an Italian chassis and engine and a French driver.   But recent teams from Russia, Spain and Malaysia have tried to assemble systems like Haas and failed miserably.

And this wasn’t a takeover effort.  Haas started from scratch in 2014 and built a program from the ground up to today’s great result.

Who knows what the future will bring but on THIS Sunday, Haas is golden. Or better yet, it’s Red, White & Blue.
