So, will Jeremy Mayfield be racing at Daytona this 4th of July weekend? Will it really be a 'Happy Independence Day' for him or not?

So far, so good, Mayfield fans!

Today in court, the judge lifted Mayfield's suspension and mentioned, “… the court finds [that] the harm to Mr. Mayfield significantly outweighs any harm to NASCAR,” essentially saying that any apparent drug use is not particularly harmful to the sport or to other drivers… or saying that there isn't enough proof of drug use. Wow, that is huge!

So is Jeremy Mayfield a meth-head as had been rumored when the secret drug test results were leaked to various media outlets?

Again, according to the ruling in court just today, if NASCAR really thinks so, then they have every ability to find out on their own. The judge basically told NASCAR that if meth was such a concern, they could test Jeremy extensively, daily if necessary, via any method necessary (hair folicles, finger nails, etc.) to determine if he has been or is a meth-head or not. Meth-heads will have trace amounts of substance in various parts of the body that will last in the system for a long time.

Something that helped Jeremy's case was the fact that he never had an opportunity for his backup test to be conducted by another independent lab. That would only be fair, right? More than one unbiased lab should be able to conclude the same results, if true… but no independent lab was allowed in Jeremy's case, for whatever reason.

This is indeed a victory for Jeremy Mayfield, but we are far from done with this case. NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said, “We are disappointed, but we respect the judge’s ruling. This is only a temporary injunction. The legal case continues beyond this point, and we will continue to make our case.”

You had better believe it isn't over, NASCAR, because due to your suspension of Mayfield, he has lost a sponsor and had to lay off 10 employees. That's money lost… for what? An incorrect diagnosis… so far?

Oh boy, this is definitely going to be uglier than any of us ever imagined…

A great article by Bob Pockrass at Scene Daily, who first broke the news of the court ruling, is HERE… bottom line according to testimony, “He’s either a walking zombie or he’s dead if he has that much methamphetamine in his body.”

Yep, Pockrass story is definitely a recommended read.

And with Wimbledon going on now, let's put the current score in tennis terms…
Jeremy – 15
NASCAR – Love (0)
