This is the Statt Mann, Baby. It’s time to Scatt a Little Bit…

Friends often try to humor me when I tell them that racism isn’t dead yet.

They all point to our Black President, Tiger Woods, the Williams Sisters; the usual suspects.

But let’s talk about something that happened to me Saturday afternoon. I called a phone number to purchase something. I was invited to come see it but when the woman saw me at the door she refused to come close, called back her son and called her husband right away.

He called me on my cell, said he’d be there in five minutes but when he didn’t show for ten, I left.

That was here in a diverse, middle income community of Southern California.

I guess what amazes me more is that people think this kind of thing isn’t a part of Americana anymore.

Think about your life and how you contribute to keeping racism alive. We all do in some form or another. Sadly, it’s America. Still.

Happy President’s Day weekend.

Peace.
