This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit.

Long time Friend of the Freaks Tanner Foust won the Red Bull Global Rallycross round in Seattle Saturday. He’s taken over the points lead with two rounds left in Los Angeles in about three weeks.

For me, a fan, it’s been a troubling season for the GRC. I want to see growth in a promotion. To me there appears to be none in the GRC.

Out of the 17 drivers listed in the SuperCars category, one has never entered an event this year. One was paid to show up at one round. Two drivers have apparently been replaced on one team but are still listed among the 17. And it goes on like that.

For comparison, 41 drivers are listed in the World Rallycross points including American Ken Block. He took his two car Ford team to the FIA series this year in a bit of a snit, I’m told. He didn’t like the way things were handled in the GRC last year.

GRC has turned into a cult of personalities. There are two or three drivers with big fan bases and that appears to be keeping the promotion afloat.

For example, eleven drivers showed up at Seattle and ten ran in the Final round.

If you ask, they’ll say GRC remains viable. And I guess it does as a television show, even a reality series supported by Red Bull.

I wanted so much more.

Peace.
