This is the Statt Mann, Baby. It’s time to Scatt a Little Bit…

In the fourteen plus years we’ve been doing this I’ve made some relationships that go beyond the microphone. I’ve talked with guys about their lives, they’ve reached out to me and we’ve had conversations across the years that I value.

Several were called to mind Saturday night when I watched the final twenty-one minutes of the Sebring 12 Hours when a restart put everything on the table. We’re not supposed to cheer for guys but I had a smile at the conclusion of the race.

Scott Pruett in the overall winning Ganassi Daytona Prototype has been a supporter. We’ve talked about everything from racing to his wine label to his children’s books.

Then there’s Patrick Long who won the GT Le Mans category with Core Autosport. He’s been a texting partner for years.

And Andy Lally who won the GT Daytona class with Magnus Racing. He’s another who finds the time for Statt Mann even when there’s no race to talk about.

Their success at Sebring felt good. I was happy that they took advantage of the Statt Mann Mojo and won the second longest endurance sports car race in America.

Now it’s on to Long Beach for the shortest race of the season next month. It’ll be a bull ring at the Long Beach Grand Prix where some gear grabbin’ and fender flexing might be needed to get them all back to Victory Circle. Again.

Peace.
