I'm not big on celebrating days or dates.  But this one, well, I've gotta chime in.

"Cum on Feel The Noize" is the opening line and the name of the first single from the first heavy metal album to reach number one on the Billboard charts.  Quiet Riot was the band.

The name of the band and their single pretty much sum up what SpeedFreaks have done from the beginning.  And on June 25th, 2005 this quiet little riot of Freaks will sit down once again and spread the Freak Nation gospel just like we have for the last five'r.

Yes, five Freakin' years.  And up to our 5th birthday, I'll share with you five or six little Freak'doms about our little riot that got us from one station to scores, from eleven TV shows to a 26 show season and from Andretti to DeCoster.

Join me.

Why not start from the very first show on June 25th, 2000.

We started on KLSX 97.1 The FM Talk Station in Los Angeles.  Yes, the Howard Stern Station in So-Cal. This is where the Howard Stern of Motorsports comparisons started almost immediately.  At times, a fair comparison but no banana toss or lesbian motorsports dating for us.  Come to think about it……nooo, puh-lease, we're already so far off the pink shirt, vanilla coated motorsports broadcast bores out there now, we don't need some creative $5 adult gimmick to keep our listeners.

When we scheduled our first show, out of the gate you knew we were going to be diverse in the sport.  In the studio, driving almost two hours was the King of Supercross, Jeremy McGrath.  But, he would have to wait.  Calling on the phone was WWF Funny Car team owner and driver Jerry Toliver.  But he would have to wait.

SpeedFreaks very first guest was one of the godfathers of Import Drag Racing, Adam Saruwatari.  Who?  Just ask any 18 year old street racer that has had a finger deep into it for five years and he/she will tell you about Adam.

Adam can be mentioned in the same breath as running mates Ibarra, Papadakis, Ten and Paisley.  He was one that helped start this Import revo-freakin'-lution in the 90's.  In fact, in 1998 at 24, Saruwatari's Mazda RX-7 posted a 9.63-second 1/4-mile run at 139 mph, making it the fastest stock chassis RX-7 in the world!
Shiiiiiiiiiii….

Initially, the only reason we had Adam on SpeedFreaks was a magazine stand that Statt Mann and I strolled by after one of our many pre-show gatherings in '99.  As we walked by the automotive section, or was that Juggs and SheMale mags, Statt recommended that I look into the Import scene.

I did, we did and we caught it by it's tale just as the fuse was lit.  Lit on June 25th, 2000 with the only radio show in the country to have the balls, the foresight and the "it's our game" attitude to shun the pop motorsports culture.

We continue to do this today.  Not only with the Adam's of the world but with the Andrettis, Knievels, Biaggis, Stewarts, Forces, Ganassis, Carmichaels, Mladins, Garlits, Foyts, Metzgers, Gordons and Pettys.

They and hundreds of others who you know have caught the Freaks monkey by the tail and continue to hold on as we swing it for the fence.  Yea, what?

What does Saruwatari mean in Japanese? Monkey on a crossing bridge.

Man, where does it come from…?

Freak Nation, I know you'll cross this 5 year bridge with us.  And most importantly, we thank you very, very much.

Next week, Lugg's live on-air "Come over here you pu**y" in all its Nuttz color.

Happy Five Freak Nation!
