This is the Statt Mann  Baby.  Time to Scatt a little bit.

MoneyWe talked a couple weeks ago about the Race Team Alliance in NASCAR.  They’re negotiating a charter program that acts like a franchise where team owners can build equity value they can sell when they leave the sport.

Well that idea is catching on apparently.  The Global Rallycross this week announced a similar program.  They’re calling it an Entitlement Program where
team owners can build meaningful equity value in their GRC teams.

The biggest thing: racing entitlements can be sold or transferred.  And racing entitlements participate in equity value created in the GRC series.

Depending on who you ask, Global Rallycross is either the future of motor sports or a passing fad that’ll go away when the expense catches up with the team owners.

Out of curiosity I talked with a couple drag racers who’ve owned teams and they don’t know if it would work in drag racing where the best teams are all tied with one or two owners.

To me it would seem that’s the perfect place to have a franchise program.  Maybe they’d still be in business if they had a way of monetizing or recovering the millions they’ve invested in their sport.

Peace.
