This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit.

Does speed or competition attract you to motorsports? I’m on the competition side of the aisle. As long as the speed is something more than I can handle, then I find most competition krispy.

Extreme E LogoThat’s why I’m drawn to the all-electric Extreme E series where radically spec off-road SUVs race against each other in crazy, fender banging, 125 mile an hour competition.

The point of the series is to raise awareness of climate change. And provide support for the global extreme locations where they race.

For example, the finale this year was in Uruguay where 98 percent of the electric grid comes from renewable power. In fact, the Extreme E compound took its solar powered hydrogen fuel cells to the South American country to power the cars. Everything else came from plugging into the Uruguayan grid.

The 100 percent renewable energy event was a motor racing first.

In fact, starting next year the series has a partnership with a Texas company and will travel with its own hydrogen powered grid for the entire show.

Now, before you think these are golf carts humming across the globe check out the video programming at extreme-e.com. You think global champions like Sebastien Loeb, Carlos Sainz and 13-time World Trials champion Laia Sanz would be involved if the racing wasn’t extreme?

And, yes, there’s gender equality in the driver’s seat. Men race against women.

Extreme E. It’s worth your attention.

Peace.
