This is the Statt Mann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

Max Siegel, the highest ranking African American executive in NASCAR as President of Dale Earnhardt Incorporated, is leaving DEI to run NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity efforts.

I paused for a moment there.  My first inclination was to call the effort a travesty.  We can elect a black President or consider a female President but we can’t find either to drive a Sprint Cup car.  Think about that for a minute.

Say what you want about the Bush Administration but it found two African Americans – one a woman – to drive America’s foreign affairs.  But NASCAR wrings it hands for years because it says it can’t find either to drive a car in circles.

Statistically, it’s impossible.  A black President and a woman to run affairs of state again, and we can’t find a black or female driver that meets NASCAR’s needs.  I wonder what would happen if the new African American Attorney General looks at the issue in the future.

In the interim, NASCAR puts Max Siegel by the door while it blames sponsors for this shortfall in its diversity efforts.

Max Siegel is a brilliant man who was a Senior Vice President at SONY records – a billion dollar enterprise – even running his own label before he went to DEI.  Here’s hoping he can find someone who looks like him – or his wife – to turn left.

Peace.
