This is the Statt Mann, Baby. It’s time to Scatt a Little Bit…

First, a massive congratulations to Darrell Wallace, Jr. who won Saturday’s NASCAR truck race at Martinsville. He’s the second African American to ever win a NASCAR national touring series and the first in fifty years.

Wallace is eighth in points. He’s been in the top ten all year. He’s won Poles and led races. Now he closed the deal at Martinsville. I hope at some point the 20-year-old man becomes man enough to be called Darrell and not Bubba.

But while NASCAR is trying to celebrate Wallace’s win, there’s Kevin Harvick in a profanity laced rant against Ty Dillon and the Richard Childress team where Harvick works. For now. Next year he’ll be with Stewart Haas Racing.

You remember that it was Childress – at NASCAR’s lowest point ever – who took Harvick in and made him a star when few knew who he was. Now Childress’ grandchild is a punk and worse because he touched Harvick’s truck in a race.

To be fair, Harvick apologized Sunday morning on a TV show.

So, which is NASCAR? A community where a man of color can win a race twice a century? Or a place where drivers blow up bridges to eat their young?

You decide.

Peace.
