This is the Statt Mann, Baby. It’s time to Scatt a Little Bit…

It was fun this week watching Al Unser Jr. get himself back into a race car to race with his son in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

This week Al said he remembered racing with his Dad in a sports car race and he wanted that same experience with his son Al Unser III.

The best news was that Al Jr. felt motivated to come out of retirement and rise above the demons that have plagued his personal life.

He said he’d been working out in preparation for the race and it must have worked. He was as much as ten or more seconds a lap faster than some of the nation’s best sportsmen drivers in the field.

Shows a real difference between an out of shape pro and the best of the rest. You can’t get off the sidelines and compete against the pros in anything no matter how much you think you can.

Al Jr. also said he’d consider a full-time comeback maybe in the Pirelli World Challenge where hour long sprint races are the rule and factory money isn’t the exception anymore.

Let’s hope he makes it all the way back.

Peace.
