This is the Statt Mann  Baby.  Time to Scatt a little bit.

I don’t often compare anything NASCAR to Formula One but today I can.

Tony StewartFirst, think back to 2005, Tony Stewart’s second Cup championship.  At the second Charlotte race he had a tire blowout late.  He battled back instead of quitting and his ultimate championship margin was the points he gained staying in that Charlotte race.

Lewis HamiltonNow today in Hungary.  2014 F1 champion and current points leader Lewis Hamilton had a terrible afternoon.  He dropped from first to fourth at the start.  He made mistakes all day and in the last 20 laps he was out of the points. He could have lost his championship lead to teammate Nico Rosberg.

Instead Hamilton drove through the field again to wind up sixth on the afternoon.  Rosberg, on the other hand, was second in Hungary when he drove over another driver’s front wing defending the position. He had to pit for a new tire.

So instead of losing his championship lead, Hamilton gained points on Rosberg going into the F1 summer break.

Champions always battle.

Peace.
