This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit…

A different thought tonight about a thing we all love: cars.

Sometimes I join the cult worshiping cars. I’ve driven gas guzzlers, gas sippers, race cars and hybrids on the street. That makes me part of the cult that denies the violence cars visit on our person, our lives, and our environment.

The Museum of Modern Art in New York City examines the car in an exhibit of nine from a Formula One race car to the people’s car, the Volkswagen Beetle.

If you’re listening to this, you share my love and memories of the car; all billion and a half in the world. One for every five people. But I know what’s it’s like to lose the beauty of nature to a car’s exhaust or the scarring a car’s tires can do to a hillside that only asks to surround us in beauty.

Maybe our environment is fighting back by scarring humanity with forest fires and the pestilence that thrives in the car exhaust. We need to rethink so much of what we’ve surrendered to cars that are killing us and our way of life.

Some answers might be in the next mirror you look into.

Peace.
