This is the Statt Mann Baby. Time to Scatt a little bit.

There’s talk in the Formula One World that the Las Vegas Grand Prix in November will change the sport forever. I don’t doubt that one bit.

2023 Las Vegas F1 Render

Just looking at the ticket packages for the three-day weekend we’re seeing numbers from $1800 to $88,000 per seat. And there’s some indication those VIP/Paddock Club type seats are sold out already. We’re led to understand there’ll be little or no $500 general admission tickets this first year.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix will be the third American F1 race this season after x Miami, Florida and Austin, Texas. There was a time when the U.S. could barely host one race. Now three?

In a companion story there’s word that F1 organizers are looking to bid on buying a stake in the Long Beach Grand Prix if that piece comes on the market as expected. Long Beach was an F1 venue for eight years from 1976 to 1983.

It’s too much. Where’s the ceiling? Indeed, where’s the sanity.

This sounds like open season on golden geese and the golden omelets they leave behind.

Peace.
