This is the Statt Mann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

I’ve talked about the nail biting competition in NHRA Pro Stock.  Now that same “I-can’t-believe-it” closeness is coming to Top Fuel and Funny Car Nitro drag racing.

Nitromethane – or Nitro – is an organic compound used to make drugs, pesticides, solvents and racing fuel.

This is partly because nitromethane can provide power with little or no oxygen.

In short, this is some bad stuff and it makes for some BAD ground shaking racing.

Just like Pro Stock, you'd think the winners would be random with such close competition.

But even in the Nitro classes, the winners and losers are often the same.  Until you see some newcomers like J.R. Todd and Hillary Will in Top Fuel come along and change the power structure at the top of the standings.

This all makes NHRA drag racing the maybe the toughest show in racing.

With all the elements, it’s certainly the most impressive.

Peace.
