This is the Stattmann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

More evidence of hard headed rich guys changing OUR racing for us.

I was startled at the start of the ALMS race in Portland where four classes could only field 22 cars.

That included three in the P2 category where Porsche pounds its chest.

And only four in the GT1 class where GM brags whenever its two Corvettes beat the two Aston Martins entered.

And Acura announced three new teams next year.  I’d choose the ALMS too.  There are fewer cars to beat.

But Grand-Am is little better.  It announced a plan this week to race in Iowa in 2007.

That’s at a tiny, 1.3 mile road course inside an oval less than a mile long.  Imagine the dizzying laps awaiting some 40 plus Daytona Prototypes and Rolex GT cars.  And you thought Southern California freeways are jammed!

Get a grip guys!!  Racing as entertainment?  Are you entertained by any of this?

Peace.
