This is the Statt Mann, Baby. It’s time to Scatt a Little Bit…

A friend sent me a wonderful story Sunday afternoon. Any race fan will smile when they hear that Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher, won his first open-wheel race in Germany today. It was only his third start in the German Formula 4 series. (CNN International Photos)

FIA Formula 4 is an entry level open-wheel series with a spec chassis, slicks and engines with power capped at 150 horsepower.

Mick’s famous father, Michael Schumacher, didn’t see the win. He remains in recovery mode after a near fatal head injury in a ski accident in France 16 months ago.

Mick is 16. He’d been 12th and ninth in his first two races. Today he won from the front.

Mick has previously raced karts under the surname Betsch, his mother Corinna’s maiden name.

His Van Amersfoort teammate is the son of another famous F1 name, Harrison Newey, whose father is the Red Bull team’s chief technical officer Adrian Newey.

The German F4 patron is four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, who has followed the path of his idol Schumacher by joining Ferrari this season.

But you wonder if this the first of many for Mick Schumacher. If you believe in genetics it must be just the beginning.

Peace.
