This is the Statt Mann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

Saturday night’s Supercross opener at Anaheim proved once again that the experts don’t have a clue about racing.

James Stewart and Chad Reed were supposed to battle it out again for the championship.  So what happens?  Reed goes out early with bike problems and Stewart had to Supercross class newcomer Ryan Dungey for the win.

Stewart was four seconds down to Ryan with seven laps left when James grabbed another gear and chopped Dungey down.

But it wasn’t over.  Dungey made another run at James before settling for second.

Said Stewart on the podium: “I think we’ve got some new players in town and it’s gonna be a long fun season.”

And Dungey: “The goal is to be on top one of these days.  It might take a year or two but we’ll get there little by little.”

Whether it’s a year or two of a race or two, Dungey is a factor in the championship already.

Supercross will indeed be a long fun season.

Peace.
