This is the Statt Mann, Baby. It’s time to Scatt a Little Bit…

Did you follow the Tudor United SportsCar Championship test this week in Daytona? I loved the success of the DeltaWing, a radical departure from the sports car norm.

The DeltaWing Coupe ran near the front in four of the six test sessions on Saturday. Of course, not everyone is showing all their cards at the Roar Before the 24 tests with the race in two weeks.

But the DeltaWing was getting faster all last year and it would appear the engineers are learning things. The car now is beating some prototypes at least in these tests. That hasn’t always been the case.

Also helping the DeltaWing cause is the hiring of four-time series champion Memo Rojas who was the odd man out when Joey Hand was hired at Ganassi Racing.

Memo had huge success when he was paired with Scott Pruett at Ganassi. The pair also won three Rolex 24 races. Memo’s talent and the new telecommunications sponsorships he brought from Mexico will help DeltaWing resources.

I hope the DeltaWing ideas of weight savings, horsepower efficiencies and tire management can be successful. We could use some new thinking in all racing.

Peace.
