This is the Statt Mann Baby!! Time to Scatt a little bit.

Not enough people will pay enough attention to Nicky Hayden’s world MotoGP championship today. Some call MotoGP the F1 of motorcycles.

Hayden’s first MotoGP event was four seasons ago in Japan. His first victory came last year at Laguna Seca. Now he’s the king! It’s rare to get to the top of the mountain so quickly.

Hayden’s title comes against a seven-time world champion being measured for a spot on Mt. Olympus.

Only once before has a rider entered the last race in second place only to emerge with the title but that’s what Hayden pulled off today in Spain.

He’s only the seventh American to win the championship.

Today the international media gave him an ovation when he was given the trophy at the post race news conference.

A good ‘ol boy from Kentucky raised his hands to the cheering crowd after being knocked to the canvas in the last rounds of a season long title fight.

Nicky’s win goes beyond motorcycles. To turn a phrase: It’s a small step for a man and a giant leap for an American.

Congratulations Nicky.

Peace.
