Remember this date: May 10, 2007.  Because it’s the date that Teresa Earnhardt began the process of turning DEI into D.O.A.

From a family perspective it was a sad day… from a business perspective, it was suicide.  Remember the curse of the Bambino?  The 86 year OLD curse on the Red Sox when they sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees to finance a Broadway musical?  Well DEI supporters, your voodoo has just begun.

Forget about whether or not Dale Jr. has delivered a Cup Title, or whether he is the best driver in NASCAR.  He is the biggest "property" in NASCAR.  Maybe in ALL of American Motorsports!  And Teresa and Company just let him walk away!

Sure she was accustomed to raking in all the Budweiser, etc. sponsor cash that filled her mailbox every week… and the countless millions she made on merchandise and collectibles.  I guess it would be hard to part with all that dough and actually start sharing it with the kid responsible for it.  After all… he’s only your step-son!  He SHOULD just bust his ass to make you rich, right?

Wrong!  Teresa DOES deserve a lot of credit for maintaining the legacy of a great race team.  The team that arguably shaped NASCAR’S rise to mainstream stardom.  Definitely the team that gave drivers some control over there licensing and marketing of THEMSELVES!  But in the end Teresa Earnhardt will be remembered for being too greedy to see the REAL opportunity to build a revenue generating EMPIRE where SHE could have been the architect.  Instead she will be regarded as the Curse of the "Bambi-nette"…  Because NASCAR’S version of Babe Ruth will be across the garage… making someone ELSE rich… and famous!
