This is the Statt Mann Baby!!  Time to Scatt a little bit.

Hypocrisy might be redundant in election season.  But there’s a lot of it going around especially when you compare stick and ball observations with motor racing.

For example, there’s the high school kid who probably wasn’t college material.  So, instead of going to college and faking it, he went to Europe to start getting paid to play basketball.  The idea was sharply criticized.

But when a driver can barely wait to get out of high school before he starts driving Cup cars, a TV network builds a promotional campaign around his brilliance.

Then there’s Nike who fights off the evil eye for taking young inner city kids and traveling them around the country to teach them basketball and, in a way, life.

Ford, on the other hand, is patted on the back for giving a 12-year-old a factory-backed contract to help build his racing career.

Just a couple examples of how things are valued.

A comedian pointed this out once.  A governor poses with a gun and she’s cheered.  But a rap star says guns and he’s threatened with jail.

When did the memo go out that changed our national creed to life, liberty and the pursuit of hypocrisy?

Peace.
